Uppsala is growing rapidly. Already today, we are Sweden’s fourth-largest city, with a record amount of construction in recent years. The business sector is thriving with new companies, world-leading research, and innovations. People are moving here, and new neighborhoods are emerging.

Today, we are Sweden’s fourth-largest city with over 230,000 inhabitants. By 2050, we could reach 380,000 inhabitants (!). Uppsala is part of a larger and rapidly growing labor market region in Stockholm-Mälardalen.

It’s not easy to keep up with all the new neighborhoods and areas being built, both centrally and on the outskirts. Together with our guide Marie, we’ll explore the outskirts and newly built neighborhoods of Uppsala. Marie will share the history and significance of these areas as we tour around. We’ll make a stop for coffee and sandwiches at a pleasant and green location.
